Fernie, British Columbia
As we progress through National Geographic’s Top 25 Ski Towns, we come upon Fernie in the Elk River Valley of British Columbia. It combines warmer temperatures and more powder than Banff on its wide open bowls, daredevil chutes, and knife ridges. Fernie is a funky small town with eclectic restaurants and an old train station for an Arts Center. The valley is overlooked by the Lizard Range of mountains, making for great cat-skiing.
